Charles H. Wright Museum of African American HistoryDetroit
The Wright Museum marks 60 years of Kwanzaa with five free days, one principle each: a libation ceremony, first candle lighting and a unity mural (Dec 26), conversations on identity across generations and name banners (Dec 27), a woven mkeka (Dec 28), a vendor market of Black-owned makers and a kids' marketplace (Dec 29), and a kinara-making activity (Dec 30). Every day has short lectures, hands-on activities, storytelling, crafts and games. The museum is closed Dec 31 and Jan 1.
