How FreeBee works
FreeBee is an independent guide to free things in San Diego. It isn’t a coupon site, it isn’t run by any of the places it lists, and nobody pays to appear in it. All 279 listings live right now show the date they were last checked against their official source.
What gets listed
- Actually free. No purchase to redeem it, no “free with” fine print hidden from you.
- Worth showing up for. Roughly $5 or more in value, or a short, dated freebie.
- Local and real. A place or event in San Diego County, with a date, a time or regular hours.
- Not a sales pitch. Listings that read like a scam or exist to sell you something are blocked automatically.
How each listing is checked
- Every fact comes from the official source: the city, the county, the museum, the organizer. That page is linked on the listing.
- The catch is written out before you go: who qualifies, whether you need to sign up, what isn’t included. If there’s no catch, it says so.
- Dated events disappear once they end, so nothing on the list has already happened.
- If something isn’t free or isn’t there anymore, tap “Not free / gone” on its page. After 3 reports it’s pulled until someone re-checks it.
Tips from people who went
Anyone can leave a one-line tip on a listing: parking, lines, what to bring. To keep scammers out, tips can’t include links, phone numbers or contact details, and there are no private messages. Two reports hide a tip right away.
What we never do
- Ask for payment, a card number or anything beyond an email address.
- Sell or rent your email. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Disguise paid placements. If a business ever pays to be featured, the listing will say so.
